Why a steam catalyst?

The Problem

On a wood-burning heater, the coldest stones are at the top—exactly where the water is usually thrown. The hottest stones remain at the bottom, in an unreachable place. The result is hot, sharp steam that burns the skin and airways, forces the bather to hunch over, and leaves a mottled 'leopard skin' pattern on the skin caused by a lack of oxygen.

The Solution

With the Steam Cannon, the steam becomes soft and even—exactly like what is experienced in Russian banyas and smoke saunas. The steam no longer burns the skin or airways, the bather doesn't have to hunch over when throwing water, and the mottled 'leopard skin' caused by oxygen deficiency does not appear.

  • How it Works

How does the steam catalyst work?

The water poured into the device evaporates inside it and is directed against the scorching hot lower stones, heating up even further before entering the air. The pressure generated in the device is controlled, and blowback is eliminated.

Installation

On a regular heater, the hottest stones are at the bottom, out of reach, while water is thrown on the top, coldest stones. The Steam Cannon is installed right there—under the stones, directly against the stove.

Adding Water

Water is poured directly into the device, not onto the stones. The water poured into the device triggers the entire process.

Evaporation

Thanks to the device's design, the water evaporates inside the catalyst before it even comes into contact with the stones. This creates a more even and controlled steam from the very beginning.

The Result

The resulting steam is directed against the scorching hot lower stones, where it heats up even more before entering the air. The result is soft, invisible steam—the pressure in the device is controlled, and blowback is prevented.
